My son just left for Sevilla for his second semester of college. When he flew to Florence last August, he packed a large duffel, a carry-on bag, and his laptop backpack. This time, he left the carry-on behind. It's funny how we hold on to travel items we think we must have, only to realize later that we never actually use them.
Today, take 10 minutes to go through your luggage and travel gear. Open up that suitcase you always reach for—what's hiding inside? Check the toiletry bags, packing cubes, neck pillows, and travel accessories you've collected over the years. Do you need all of them? If something didn't serve you on your last trip, it might not be worth keeping.
Hauling heavy bags through airports, train stations, or city streets can be exhausting, and bringing fewer items makes the journey smoother and more enjoyable.
Packing light allows for easier movement, fits bags into overhead compartments, and avoids long waits at baggage claim, giving you more freedom to focus on the trip.
Fewer items mean quicker packing before you leave and less hassle when unpacking, so you can spend more time enjoying your destination and less time sorting through your luggage.
Letting go of unused travel items makes space for what truly works. Someone else might love that barely-used bag or travel pillow in your closet.
What's the one travel item you thought would be a game-changer but ended up just taking up space?
I hope you have a productive week!
