Productive Environment Blog
We all have them.
The stack of papers that’s been sitting for weeks.
The half-finished photo album.
The closet you started to organize but never finished.
Each time you notice it, there’s a reminder: “unfinished.”
It lingers in the background, quietly pulling at your focus.
And without a project to focus on?
It’s so easy to drift… Scrolling endlessly. Watching just one more episode.
Tidying a little here, a little there… but never finishing anything.
That’s the difference between aimless activity and intentional progress.
The moment you claim something as a project, everything changes. A project has a vision. You know where you’re headed. It has steps, so you know how to move forward. And most importantly, it has a beginning and an end. Your brain breathes a sigh of relief. You shift from “someday” to “in progress.”
From scattered to focused.
And here’s the thing: those unfinished tasks aren’t just clutter, they’re open loops. Your brain keeps holding space for them, like dozens of browser tabs running in the background.
That’s why it feels so satisfying to “tie up loose ends.” Closing loops frees up your mental energy for what matters most.
Several weeks ago, I was talking with our team and our SOAR Members about what Workshop we should offer next.
My first thought was another Paper Palooza so we could all collectively focus on the ART of Organizing Information™, sorting paper piles into Action, Reference, or Toss.
But then I heard from people who wanted to focus on other things:
– tackling their email inbox
– organizing photos
– decluttering their digital files
We’ve offered Workshops on all of those topics before and could certainly do so again.
And then there were others with completely different projects in mind:
– starting to write a book
– developing a new offer for their clients
– getting a guest room ready for the holidays
That’s when Barbara and I decided to create The Intentional Project Workshop (aka Project Palooza 🙂), a space where you get to choose the project that matters most to you.
We provide the structure, the connection, and the accountability. You provide the project. 🥰
And here’s the truth: you may not finish your entire project in our three hours together.
But you will get unstuck.
You will take that important first step.
And you’ll leave with momentum to keep moving forward with intention.
So let me ask you:
What project would make the biggest difference in your life right now?
Or which project would give you the most joy to start right now?
This is your chance to choose it, break it into steps, and finally take action alongside others who are doing the same.
Let’s experience the power of a project, together.
