The Bible: The Original Finding System

Years ago, Andrea Anderson shared something that has stayed:

“The Bible was the original finding system.”

The earliest manuscripts of scripture were written as continuous text—no chapters, no verses. But in 1227, the Archbishop of Canterbury introduced chapters, and later, verses were added. Why? So people could find the scriptures they needed, teach others, and apply God’s Word in their lives more easily.

What a simple but powerful reminder: the ability to find something transforms how we use it.

“Come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”

God created a system for finding Him—and we believe He invites us to do the same in our daily lives.
