As I travel solo this week to meet my son in Spain, I’ve considered how much staying organized helps me feel grounded, even when I’m thousands of miles from home. I don’t travel with a heavy itinerary. But I do travel with a system:
A simple packing plan (a merino wool capsule)
A place for every document (slim plastic file folder tucked in my carry-on)
A digital folder with backups, photos, and notes (stored in my Forever account)
My husband may label it OCD, but for me, it is about creating just enough structure so I can relax into the experience. Being organized means showing up fully for my son, the beauty around me, and myself.
Being organized (especially with ADHD) doesn’t mean I have everything perfectly sorted. It means I’ve created space for peace of mind, even while navigating unfamiliar places.
What’s one organizing habit or mindset that helps you feel grounded while traveling or moving through transitions?
