Thanksgiving is 48 hours away! How are you feeling? Stressed? Worried? Relaxed?
I feel relaxed and excited; my favorite part of Thanksgiving is baking in the kitchen and spending time with my family. Fortunately, my in-laws always host Thanksgiving at home, so I enjoy baking and spending time with them as part of the holiday.
Whether traveling or simply enjoying the season, don't get caught up in the busyness and overlook the little things that bring joy and meaning to the celebration; today, take some time to focus on creating a space for gratitude and connection.
Take 10 minutes to tidy up your dining table, kitchen counter, or another gathering spot where family and friends will connect. At our family gatherings, the kitchen is where most of us hang out to chat while preparing the meal; there is always a lot of laughter and food.
Or take 10 minutes to consider releasing one thing that adds stress. Are there too many desserts to bake? Is the pressure of a fancy table setting too much? It is okay to downgrade or remove an unrealistic item from your list. If you find removing it impossible, delegate it to someone—it is okay to ask for help.
If you have an extra few minutes, add something meaningful to your space—maybe a candle, a handwritten note, or a photo of a loved one— something that reminds you to be present and enjoy the time together.
Taking 10 minutes to reset your space (and your mindset!) can help you enter this season with an open heart and enjoy the holiday more easily.
I hope you have a wonderful (and productive) week!
