Barbara Hemphill is a celebrated international speaker, corporate spokesperson, and consultant to small businesses and major corporations worldwide.

Barbara’s business grew out of the lessons she learned growing up on a farm in Nebraska. Her formal training was in music and education. A pioneer in the field of professional organizing, Barbara started her business in 1978 with a $7 ad in a New York City newspaper.

Today she has an international team of Certified Productive Environment Specialists™. These Specialists are part of the Productive Environment Institute™, whose mission is to help individuals and organizations create and sustain a productive environment™ so everyone can accomplish their work and enjoy their lives.

She recently launched the iPEP (interactive Productive Environment Platform), which allows user to find physical information, electronic information, and ideas with a single keyword search.

Barbara’s proprietary processes include The Productive Environment Day™ and Almost Paperless™ as well as The 8-Hour Miracle™, which guarantees a 10 percent increase in productivity by any measure the client chooses.

Hemphill, frequently referred to as “The Paper Tiger Lady,” is the author of several books, including Kiplinger’s bestselling “Taming the Paper Tiger,” book series and “Love It or Lose It: Living a Clutter-Free Life.” Her latest book, soon to be released, is called Bushido Business, co-authored with Stephen Covey, Tom Hopkins, and Brian Tracy.

Barbara served as President of National Association of Professional Organizers from 1995 to 1997 and has received the NAPO President’s Award on two occasions, as well as NAPO Founder’s Award.

Often referred to by the media as “America’s Favorite Organizer,” Barbara has appeared on several television shows, including the Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN Nightly News, CNBC, and CNN-FN.

She has been featured in numerous publications, including Fast Company, Investor’s Business Daily, Business Week, Reader’s Digest, USA Today, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Boardroom Reports, and was featured on the cover of Guideposts magazine.

Barbara has lived in the West Indies, India, New York City, and Washington, DC. While living in India, she adopted three children. In addition, she has two stepchildren and four grandchildren.

She now lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with her husband Alfred Taylor. Their home sits on 70 acres of woods overlooking a 30-acre lake, where people love to come to see whether Barbara practices what she preaches!
